Senior Business Analyst

The Sr. Business Analyst role is to guide the solicitation, documentation, and communication of requirements for efficient business, financial, and operations systems in support of core Division and Service Line functions and business processes. This includes mentoring others on process, as well as personally gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. Key activities may include the development of test cases and testing of programs of new and existing software systems.

This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with Service Line Leaders, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals.
  • Drive process development/improvement related to requirements gathering, requirements documentation and functional design.
  • Mentor others on requirements and functional design best practices.
  • Work closely with the Project Delivery team members (project managers, QA Analysts, support team and developers) to develop efficient and effective project delivery processes in order to reduce overall cost of project delivery.
  • Maintain effective relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in the development and utilization of project delivery processes; not limited to estimating, time tracking, risk and issue management, change management, status reporting, etc.
  • Create documentation that clearly depicts user requirements in a method understandable to business users as well as technical resources.
  • Assist with interpretation of requirements during design, development and testing phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Develop test plans, and assist with testing of coded software as necessary, assuring delivered software meets documented requirements.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing and business signoff on delivered software.
  • Aid in negotiations between development staff and business resources where compromise is required to meet documented requirements.
  • Some small project management.
  • Help to identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in systems used across the organization.
  • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
  • Assist in the development of project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Report project status as needed.
  • Assist with the development of cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed initiatives to aid management in decision making.
  • Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Collaborate in the conceptualization, planning, design and testing of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Research, identify, analyze, and requirements of external program users.
  • Administer critical analysis of test results.
  • Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
  • Create systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts.
  • All other duties as assigned.
